h i s t o r y ;;

Pearl remembers being in the orphanage for a better part of the early years of her life. She remembers the loneliness mostly, as she had been teased by the children, and ignored by most of the adults, save an older woman named Emma who had been there for years; it was she who first told her that she should practice her dancing. It was difficult in the beginning, because she didn't seem to know anything; it took her some time to break out of that particular shell. At around eight years old she learned different types of sewing, and is actually quite good at it.

It was around then that Pearl began to wonder about them: about the family that had abandoned her, lost her. Even her friends, her fellow orphans, had stories to tell of the parents that left them behind. She liked to pretend that she had a story too, sometimes, just so that she wouldn't be left out.

After some time passed, and she grew older, Pearl decided to leave the orphanage to find her own path in the world. Unfortunately to do this, she needed money. After many failed attempts to find gainful employment--there weren't many things that she could do; being a mercenary was out, as she disliked handling weapons, she finally managed to find an pub that was looking for "entertainment" for it's patrons. The owner looked her up and down, and told her that she had a nice body and a pretty face; if she had any talent, she would have a job.

So she danced.

At fifteen, Pearl began traveling with her companion, Andrew, a bard, that she met in Kanemoria at one of the inns that she performed at for a long time. They traveled through Kanemoria, into Dentoria and back. Northern Kanemoria was the worst of it; it was during these travels that she had slowly come to hate what she was doing, feeling only the stares, and losing the feel for what performing had meant to her, all those years ago, when she had first begun.

It was during this point in their lives when they met Lord Kail and Sir Sawyer, who claimed to be from a House Franel in Dentoria, a place that the world insists has never existed. They traveled through Kanemoria, on a ship to Dentoria, to find their homeland -- when a storm struck their ship, and Pearl, not having gotten below in time -- was washed overboard.

She would likely have died if she had being found by Jordan and Aine, she traveled with them for some time, and after a while obtained a new journal, which to her surprise still was linked to the old. The trio went to the main city of Dentoria, where they met the trio of Fayre, Elden and Jasmine. Pearl attempted to change herself, becoming a little more outgoing for the sake of her new friends, but found that she wasn't comfortable with herself once Kail's group caught back up with them.

She planned to travel with Aine, but the girl left in the middle of the night without a trace, leaving her only other option to return with the group, as she had become accustomed to them. The play was successful, and she discovered that she did enjoy acting, even if at first it felt strange and new; it was still performing. She learned a lot from Fayre, who, as a woman she wouldn't normally have felt comfortable around, has found a way to allow Pearl to look at her dancing in a better light.

Unfortunately, Pearl didn't get the opportunity to perform in what would have been her second big play, as her concern for Andrew led her to follow him when he for her to get savagely attacked by bandits. She was unconscious for some time, and very weak afterwards, though through time has overcome it, as she continued to travel with the group, wanting to help them find their answers. Lord Kail even began to give her better fencing lessons, wanting to help her learn to defend herself.

It is an ongoing process, her warming up to those who are drawn together on this journey; she feels as if she is a hypocrite for misjudging her feelings for Andrew after waiting for him to acknowledge what they had for so long; and perhaps even Sawyer, who became a closer friend to her during the return trip to Kanemoria, isn't the right solution either to this problem. Pearl does not know the answer, though hopes that someday it can all be settled without too much heartache.

During the year she turned seventeen she found herself trying out for a rather -- unconventional role in the play, 'Rent', during which she accepted it as a true turning point for her; in her ability to accept such an ... alien concept, to bring it to life, and have people appreciate the role and not concern themselves with anything but the performance. Pearl had many mixed feelings about this at first, though once the time came, she found that the role was simply that -- a role, and by accepting that fact, she has become somewhat accomplished as an actress in her own right. Shortly after the play, she found herself rushing to the defense of her friends who had been caught up in some Kanemorian politics, even though Pearl was hardly what one can call an accomplished sword-arm.

Atsiria proved to be a difficult country to visit due to the many trials that they had to face while there. While in the city of Cleraine, Pearl finally came to the realization that she truly did not love Andrew the way that he loved her, after a long period of soul-searching. When she told him the truth, he was heartbroken, and she left the palace to flee to the city for a few days, to reflect on what a major change this would be in her life, as well as consumed by guilt for finally going through with a step that she perhaps should have made a long time ago.

Eventually she would have her first relationship outside of Andrew with Jack, whom would become her first lover.



p e r s o n a l i t y ;;

Pearl is usually reserved, and speaks rather softly. She is used to being around people, though does not enjoy it much; she either feels unworthy in the presence of nobles, or people who wouldn't see much beyond her low class, as she has experienced much in her youth; she doesn't trust men all that much either, although she is used to their general leers in her direction, though she does not avoid contact with people completely.

When people get close to her, they can actually get her to loosen up a bit and smile, and generally enjoy herself. She is actually friendly, even if she is soft spoken, though she can tease with the best of them, if so inclined. There are still things she feels awkward about discussing, and it isn't easy to get too close with her too fast; with her varied friendships, there always seems to be something she keeps back, if only because she doesn't feel comfortable being completely open.

Her frame is slender, and she's of medium height; perhaps five-foot five, at the most. Her hair is sunset-red, and falls in curls to about mid-back. Her dresses are usually pale colors, form-fitting and sleeveless, though she wears a cloak over them while traveling.
